This programme provides the foundation, knowledge and skills needed to work as development surveyor or planner. On completion you will be able to work either in the public or private sectors advising on the complexities of property development to occupiers, investors, developers and planning authorities.
On completion of this programme you will be able to convey knowledge and understanding of, and apply specialist skills within, scientific, technical and business areas of landed property, and real estate investment. Moreover, you will be able to draw upon a sound foundation of knowledge and understanding of the practices and procedures of surveying and the property industry.
Learn to understand the complex interactions and dynamics of the property market, including a sound understanding of valuation and appraisal techniques. You will gain an appreciation of the processes taking place within property transactions, development projects and investment funding.
The MRes Urban Studies and the MSc Research in the Built Environment are both recognised by the Economics and Social Research Council (ESRC) as advanced research training programmes and as a recognised outlet for ESRC studentships. Subject specific elements will be provided by courses from the other postgraduate programmes such as Real Estate Development, Urban and Regional Planning and Housing Studies.
